you know how when you're posting a reply to a thread, there's a review of the recent posts at the bottom of the page? i was thinking a variation of that would be useful for PM's. i can think of many instances when i was *replying* to a PM and constantly having to refer back to the PM, basically cycling between with browser's back and forward buttons. sometimes when you go forward, what you've already typed just up and disappears and you've lost the PM-in-progress.
i think it'd be cool to have the PM that you're replying to conveniently available at the bottom of the *same page*. just an idea i thought was good enough to suggest. i dunno if it's possible (or easy/difficult) to implement such a thing.
and yes, i realize that either copy&paste to a notepad file or quoting the PM work just as well

i've often thought that would be a really handy feature, both on this site and on several others.
thanks for mentioning it.

i agree with you huffdad, i think that a topic review for PMs would be a great thing. i always find myself juggling with heaps of browser windows if im a replying to lots of PMs, since i usually open my reply in a new window.
peace

Yes! I've been thinking about that too.

i always have hated that as well. It took me ages to figure out that if I hit the lil 'QUOTE" button that it sucked up all their text up into the pm with me!!! So I know longer had to do go back & forth like da dink I be. Tis quite handy lil button...

i would like that, too.
i have no idea how tricky it would be, but i'd also like the ability to save a draft of a pm, as i often start writing them and get interrupted halfway through.

When that happens, I think in the past I've sent the pm to myself
Yeah I agree a pm review thing would be good. Just no idea how feasible it is.

I just use the quote button to see what I'm replying to. I usually hit 'Preview' almost straight away so I can just look up and see it, do my typing on top of the quote, and then delete it at the end.

I've had to save half a PM or post many times. I usually have my email open at the same time, and cut and paste it into there to save as a draft. As I don't get on bus from anywhere but here usually, this works pretty well for me.
I've sent PMs to myself before about things I want to remember to look at later, or things I want to post. Its a good idea Laura

good ideas, laura and mallie. i usually type longer posts and pm's in a word processor and then cut and paste, just in case they get gobbled up by the internet demons before i can post them. but i hadn't thought of simply sending things to myself.
