Techie People!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!

Post by Jomomma » Mon Jun 20, 2005 8:36 pm

What is with all the damn IE windows that seem to wanna pop up?

I have adjusted setting repeatedly only to have a gazillion IE windows open.
More like 100 at a time.
I try to cloes the group and then one by one and readjust settings and what not.
How do I stop this?
Why won't they just go away??????

Help???

Please??????

I think I know what you mean. It happens to me just randomly sometimes. If you just leave them then they close. If you try to close them they down. If that doesn't work then I would try download some sort of Spyware software. You can get them for free off the internet.

I don't know about eliminating pop-ups on IE but some browsers, like Firefox, automatically block all pop-ups, so you could just download a new browser.

*Another shameless plug for Mozilla Firefox*

Oh my gosh this is the best thing ever. I get pop ups every once in a while, but they always pop under when ever they happen which is much less annoying. Very little spyware comes off of it as well!

Did you also try ad aware.

Another thing you can do is go to accessories disk cleanup and see whats installed on your computer. You may have stuf like mega buys and toolbar helper installed.

Delet these programs then go to IE options, delete cookies and files and history.

Then go to ad aware and do a system scan.

That's what you get for going to all those porn sites Jo. ;) lol

Go to www.download.com and download Spybot and Adaware. Together, they will work wonders!!! Good luck!
And.... just say NO to porn!! hehehehe

they go manic poppingup dont they.......ive not had that problem since i started using firefox instead of ie for most of my net stuff, i avoid ie now if at all possible.

It's probably worth taking windows off 'auto restore' or whatever the backup thingy is called - by default it's set to automatic,
but a lot of trojans, virii and downloaders tend to sit in the backup/restore files - so even though you clean sweep with adaware etc, it's going to come back again and again and again.

IE remains the worst browser on earth.
"Knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in night.Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and god was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever, and we are alone.Live our lives, lacking anything better to do.Devise reason later.Born from oblivion;bear children, hellbound as ourselves;go into oblivion. There is nothing else.Existence is random.Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long.No meaning save what we choose to impose."
