Search engine for memberlist?
ok, i have absolutely no idea how complicated it would be to put a serch engine in the memberlist page, or include a memberlist category in the list of categories to search in, but would it be possible?
sorry, i know it's a little thing, just that the memberlist is so long and you can't really skip to the middle without scrolling through almost every page.
thanks.

I don't know, but I bet it would be pretty hard. If you're looking for a specific user though, you can use the normal search function. It can search by username. If you put in the name of the person you're looking for under "author" and tell it to search, it will turn up all that person's posts, so you can find them from there.
Does that help?

You can skip to the middle by editing the "start=" number in the url (currently to about 3000 or so). Much quicker than using the links at the bottom that only give you the first few and the last few.

it only works if you're looking for a specific user who has posted though. suppose you wanted to search for all memebers who had a particular location, or something. If you're looking for a specific user though, you can use the normal search function. It can search by username.
thanks.

You can sort the list by location, and then use the typing in numbers thing to get to the bit of the alphabet you want. Not perfect, since for example to find all UK people you'd need to look at "UK" and "Great Britain" and "Scotland" and "London" etc etc... but better than nothing.

For usernames (in any order) you might find it easier to start to compose a pm, and click the "Find a username" button and then type what you are looking for, with *s as wildcards, into the box. E.g. for those beginning with x, type "x*". That will give you a pop-up menu of all matching usernames.Peppermint_Chey wrote:even going by alpha order say you want to only see members starting with the letter x for example.
