You have two options:

1. Go to http://buslist.org/chat.html, click yes on the popup thingie, read the guidelines, choose a name and click connect :)
or
2. Use an IRC client (www.mirc.com) and log on to the network Shadowfire. Either choose it from the drop down menu or type /server irc.shadowfire.org When you're on the network, type /j #bus si <-- si is the key, the password. Voilá!

Come find me, I'm mian!

What error message are you getting?

It's likely that a box is popping up saying something, and thats the information needed to be able to help you.

When you open mIRC, you are asked to fill in some information, right? Make up a full name and email address (if you don't necessarily want your real name there) and click okay. This will give you a white box (called status window) where you type /server irc.shadowfire.org then when it's connected, click ok on the box that pops up (asking you what channels you want to join) and type /j #bus si
The dropdown menu is in the first box, with the full name and stuff. But if you do what I said above, you don't have to worry about that.

i'm getting frustrated now. sorry if i'm being annoying.

Do you have MSN? It might be easier for me to help if we can talk there :)

Can I get to the chat when I'm using a Mac? The first option you mention says that 'The Server can not be found' and I can't download the program from MIRC because the only programs there seem to be for windows.

Thanks

The java chat thing (i.e. the first option above) should work from any kind of computer. Although I found it wouldn't work on some computers like at uni or in libraries (I guess they don't want people to chat on those!)

Mirc is just an IRC client. There are lots of others.
On a Mac I'd recommend Colloquy cos it's pleasant enough and it's free: http://www.colloquy.info/
But there are loads to choose from. Anything calling itself an IRC client that you can get for mac will do the job.
