problem posting a picture

Post by sixtyfoothigh » Tue Mar 22, 2005 3:01 pm

Don't know if I'm doing something wrong...

I've uploaded a picture into the hosted part of the gallery as I wanted to post it in place. The link is http://busmail.org/gallery/hosted/speakeasy. I've tried posting it using

Code: Select all

<img src="http://busmail.org/gallery/hosted/speakeasy">
and when I pressed preview all I got was a white square with a cross in it
e.g. <img src="http://busmail.org/gallery/hosted/speakeasy">

so I tried posting it as

Code: Select all

[img]http://busmail.org/gallery/hosted/speakeasy[/img]
and it just writes out the code as text e.g.

Image.

Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong

have you got html or bbcode disabled by default?

check the tickboxes when you post...

if that's not it, then hmmm....

the gallery is supposed to allow hotlinking,
so unless we've crunched too much bandwidth...

HTML wasn't disabled... i thought of that, but then twigged that if it was my link woulnd't have appeared as a link and the white box would have just appeared as text. Was a good possibility though, so thanks.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Still haven't got it working, but found a different website (picture trail) to host the picture for me so I will have a pic posted in place presently. If anyone works out what I was doing wrong with gallery pics, let me know.

Thanks

Are you sure you're including an image there?

The address looks like the address to your gallery index, which can't be displayed as an image.

To get the address for one of the images in your gallery you can right click on one of the images, and select "Properties", which should include an address labelled "Location". Copy that address, and paste it as the image path.

You should end up with something like this:

Code: Select all

Thankyou Jellybob. You've solved the problem. I was attempting to use to Address listed in the explorer bar as opposed to the location URL listed under properties... look... it works now.

I needn't have bothered going and organising a picturetrail account after all. Thankyou :)
