Why can't I post in my 'place' thread?

Post by RainbowBrite » Sun Feb 13, 2005 3:25 am

I posted there on Friday from my computer at work but now I'm at home and the d*mn thing keeps saying "Sorry only registered users can read threads in this forum" or some BS like that, even though I AM signed on and signed on like three different times because it kept asking me to.

What's going on?????

This sounds very weird. So, you can see the Forum Index and Place is listed there, but when you click it won't let you in? Do you find that you are logged out after that happens?

A lot of the techie weirdnesses seem to go away if you use buslist not busmail - are you doing that?

Yes, I see my place and I can read it but then I go to post something there and it won't let me in. And yes, it does appear that I am logged out afterwards. :-?

Seems fine here from work though.

I don't know the difference between buslist and busmail. :o

Basically- ALWAYS use buslist.org rather than busmail.org . And clear your cookies and the like. That might fix it. :)

Are you using an up-to-date browser? I find that BUS is barely usable from my work because our version of Netscape is so old - I get logged out constantly, especially if I use the little "Jump to" menu. And I acquired the habit of copying any post I tried to make, incase it logged me out when I submitted it

If you're using a recent browser, then definitely do what Deskana said, and visit http://www.buslist.org/phpBB not busmail (they are identical except buslist has fewer techie nuisances - Deb posted an explanation somewhere here I think).

Does the thing you are describing really only occur when posting on your own Place thread? I'd have thought it would occur on other people's too, and when posting on any member-only area in fact. ?

Hope you manage to sort it soon.
