ok this question may be stupid but what are moderators, how do ppl become them and how do they become them from a specific board, what is their job as a moderator...

basically, people become moderators when there's a need for more mods. current moderators and admins sometimes recommend people for the job. we look for people who are relatively stable (not perfectly okay, necessarily, but willing to work on their issues and to listen when people try to help), who've been noticed by mods and admins for being really helpful to others, who just seem like they'd do a good job. it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is; it's more like we know it when we see it.
