After You Beat an Urge
How do you beat your urges? Examine how you beat the last one so it can help you beat the next one.
  • Did I identify what feelings were leading me to want to SI?
    sorta
  • If Yes - What were they, and how did I figure them out?
I got urgy after a class, not sure what triggered me exactly, I've been in places where I and others have talked about SA and not had a problem, this time all I said was I had experience... I'd love to know what triggered me though because it will come up again
  • What coping skills did I use to deal with these feelings?
I went and talked to someone (huge step for me) instead of just going home or doing something that would just delay the feelings
  • Were these coping skills the most effective I could have used?
    yes
  • If No - What coping skills got me through?
  • Why do I think they worked?
because I've never talked about SA, I've talked about him being abusive but only in general terms. I got a counselor and will get one for the semester
  • How can I deal with these feelings more effectively next time, before the urge to SI sets in?
find out specifically why I got triggered, can work on it when I start seeing the counselor
