I shake too. Not specifically when I'm trying not to SI but when I'm having flashbacks to particularly nasty emotions. I'm not sure what causes it - I think it may be something to do with releasing stress & tension.

*nods* i do too at seemingly random times. *shrugs* for me seems to work better if i don't try to stop(esp since i usually can't anyhow)... just let it happen.

For me I shake when I am really anxious. I also used to shake before SIing, but that was because the tension was building and SI was the release. If you are shaking, why not go for a walk or do something really active where you must use your muscles - don't do fine motor things though - just run or jump or dance (but not fancy steps)
Take care.

I don't SI but I DO shake - often, and sometimes at moments when it surprises me cos I don't completely understand the stimulus.

It's happened all my life - sometimes now I can associate it with my GAD or just non-expressed anger and rage at a certain situation - I don't know if it's because I'm older I don't react "that way" to it, or because I sometimes understand more of why I'm feeling that way - or not :-? . Anyway, I never SI'd so I wouldn't understand I suppose - but at least you know you're not the only people who feel that way....

Plus being 48 and having gone through soooo much shit lets you know it's not always down to YOU. I know that's not much help, at least not till you're 48 too, but having seen so much c**p inflicted on ppl I really care about, at least I have old age to give me a different perspective.

I shake too. I usually do sometimes before SI, but sometimes after as well. I don't know what causes it really, but for me it's usually just a lot of tension emotionally.

Sorry I have no advice.
i live a lie, one i keep inside
forgive me for what i am about to do
i fall again with every stroke
it takes my breath as i begin to choke..

Something sort of funny, just occured to me. I'm studying harp, and one of the things my teacher always teaches is techniques to stop your hands from shaking (very similar to grounding that the psych types like to talk about) because she says most people when they get nervous before an exam or a performance start to get hand shakes, which is very bad for playing the harp.

So we're not weird, just think about it as performance anxiety.

I shake when I'm urgy - very disconcerting! I reckon its cos my body/mind can't cope with the situation - you know how people shake when they're scared/nervous - I think its similar to that.
Perhaps one day this too will be pleasant to remember
