instead of cutting....

Post by jed » Wed May 12, 2004 12:51 am

I have found this quite helpful when it comes not to cutting. Get a peice of cardboard and draw an arm on it. Get your razor or whatever you use to cut and start cutting the arm. To make it even more real get a red felt pen and draw the blood. When your doing it, just keep telling yourself this is my arm. It's working for me. I haven't cut for a week.

I find I don't cut to see the blood, or to see the wounds...I cut for the pain of it...the pain takes the focus of everything else...But we all SI for different reasons..so this might well work for some...

Thanks for sharing it with us :1hug:

thanks... i agree with jade on this one though, for me i si for the pain, so i'm not sure if it would work. glad it works for you though. :D

also, if i'm in a mood where i feel the need to cut, i can't be around my razor/tools, so it probably wouldn't be a safe option for me.

xoxo, tara.
i thought i was a fool for no one, but baby i'm a fool for you.

We all do SI for different reasons. But even I myself, SI for different reasons at different times. Sometimes it might be for the pain, some days it may be to carve a word, somedays it may be because I need the blood, or even just to destroy something. Sometimes I'm so upset/under pressure, I don't even feel anything. it depends. But thanks for the tip! It may help me sometimes when it's the destruction tool I need.

Ketchup packet. Like from a fast food place. Tape those on the underside of the cardboard "arm" and try and hit those when you cut the "arm" and then it will bleed, but it will also be very messy. I know, I used to stab ketchup packets sometimes, just for the comfort without the destruction. Kinda worked.
