soap carving...

anyone ever try soap carving? i'm reading a book where this girls T suggested that she try carving soap when she's urgy...anyone ever try it?

i've found those fancy soaps in the shapes of things or red bars of soap, or soap on a rope for some reason helps

never tried it but it seems like a good idea.

i've done that. and it was lots of fun. just be careful you don't breathe in too much soap while you do it. it makes for a BAD headache. :roll:

sounds like a nice idea - but probably not the best for me. I don't think I trust myself with a carving instrument when I'm feeling urgey; I just wouldn't want to risk it...

well if we're talking about soap here? right? you can use a butter knife. and nails and stuff for details. it doesn'T have to be anything overly sharp. :)

I haven't been able to think of what to carve the bar into. I keep lookin at it and all I see is....a bar. :roll: (just to clarify, I'm not sittin around staring at a bar of soap all day) :o lol It's just that my creativity isn't very good right now I guess. :-? I know the point is just to carve at it, instead of myself, but it seems like my concentration on it would be greater if I had an end result in mind. What kinda stuff has anybody else carved?

It's just perfect ya know, it's a simple enough shape to be able to focus on, when it's hard to focus on much of anything. It's also a good symbol to focus on and it'll actually turn into something usable and cool lookin when you've finished carving it. :)

i tried to carve a pig once because it was the first thing i looked at when i was looking for an idea. but ... it didn't turn out to be a pig in the end but a pretty cool looking bear. whatever works. :)

Roxi: I was reading that a potato peeler works well too. Fairly safe object. :)

lol...soap craving...the only bad thing about soap cravings is the foaming at the mouth afterwards....
