Coping Buddy

Post by kreaTure333 » Thu Mar 22, 2007 3:51 am

This may sound silly. I'm 20 years old so I still have to stand back and laugh at myself. But I have a little coping buddy. Everybody seems to have their "thing". Mine is a stuffed rhinoceros named Humphery. He has a little black bow tie and absolutely no stuffing in his arms. I found him a while ago and I have never been so instantly attatched to a stuffed animal in my life. WHENEVER I feel miserable, I squeeze him. It may not make the bad things or feelings go away, but it certainly seems to soften them. So I pose the question, does anybody else have a coping buddy? What is it?

It's not silly. If I'm feeling lonely sometimes I cuddle one of the stuffed animals my boyfriend got me as a substitute for him.

I hug my smail baby pink teddy bear that my fiance gave me on our first valentines day together. Over 4 years ago. Even now as he lies to me, that is still the one thing that brings me back to a semi-happy place when im feeling like i just cant go on anymore

I cuddle with a little stuffed tiger my mom got me when I was in the third grade. This may sound childish, but when I wake up in the night crying and shaking, I hold tight to the tiger and it makes me feel better, cuz eventhough I can't see my mom anymore, I can still hang on to something that reminds me of her.

I have a stuffed bear and a stuffed elephant. I go to each of them with different sets of needs/emotions...yea, I am kinda nuts.

I have a big white teddy that my boyfriend gave me. When I hold onto it when I have an urge it reminds me of him and how I would hurt him terribly if i cut

I'm 29 and have my very 1st "real" Care Bear... the Sunshine Bear.... (long story) but SOMETIMES if he's in the room and I can get to him in time it helps... I kind of lay there holding him....I don't even care what people think... I'm alone here during the day, and you do what you gotta do to get through.... right on?
