SI alternative....

Post by Listener » Tue Jun 08, 2004 11:03 pm

I don't know if this will work for anyone, but I suggested it to a friend and she said it helped her.

If you feel you have to si and conventional coping strategies don't work because you want the pain, try pressing inwards with your fingers just under your ear. Really really really hurts but that's all.
When you're mad at everyone and hurt inside, just say help.

sounds interesting. I prefer punching a punching bag, or meditating though
My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there
will find me
'Till then I'll walk alone

It's completely completely safe. Although its uncomfortable there's no way you can damage yourself by doing it. If you press REALLY hard there's a chance you'll end up passing out, it used to be my favourite pressure point when I did martial arts a lot.

But you can't hurt yourself doing it, you're just depressing a nerve, there are no blood vessels or tendons you'll damage. Just thought it might help those who sometimes need pain.
