just wanting to ask some questions

Post by glittergrl » Sun May 09, 2004 1:37 am

Is anyone on who could talk to me a bit? I think I may have mild self-mutilation issues, but I really don't know anything about this sort of thing. I am obsessive about picking at (or creating) scabs on my arms, legs, and face. I hate it, but I can't seem to stop. Sometimes I can slow it down, but it always comes back, and I have been this way since my early teen years. I would really like suggestions on how to stop, so if anyone can offer any, that would be wonderful.

heylo! i'm on. :D welcome to bus.

Self Injurious behavior is defined as deliberate, repetitive, impulsive, non-lethal harming of one's body. Self injury includes: 1) cutting; 2) scratching: 3) picking scabs or interfering with wound healing; 4) burning;5) punching self or objects;6) infecting oneself; 7) inserting objects in body openings;8) bruising or breaking bones; 9) some forms of hair pulling, as well as other various forms of bodily harm. The behaviors, which pose serious risks, may be symptoms of a mental health problem that can be treated.

(copied from http://www.selfinjury.com/)

if you do any of the above to intentionally cause harm to yourself, or if you get relief out of it, it's considered self-mutilation.

i'm still on if you have more questions. :D

love n hugs, tara.
i thought i was a fool for no one, but baby i'm a fool for you.
