i just stumbled on to typic and have found it to be really help and got a ton of new ideas to try out
i have only been trying working on stopping si,ing over the past few months and its not going so well at this point
but i have started journaling why thoughts, feeling, and what ever just comes to mind
that helps alot when i am depressed
when i'm stressed or trying to clam down i have snapping arubber band on my wrist lisoning to and singing or drumming along w/ loud music

i know i need to find more ways to sooth the urges when i get them thoe becuse my goal is to give up si'ing but so far my longest streak as been 4 weeks
i'm gonna try the safety box idea
anyone got any tips for me about what to inculed in and what not
Sometimes I feel like my sun as run away. Drifting from here to there and the feeling stays the same. The thoughts stay in my head and they always haunt me.......

Goals - for SI.
As in "I'm not going to SI for two months" the very fact that I can't fail that goal keeps me going.

Take care,

music , playing drums, god
I like having low self-esteem it makes me feel special.

They say you need to pray, if you want to go to heaven. But they don't tell you what to say when your whole life has gone to hell.

The beautiful thing about music is when it hits you, you fell no pain.

I'll fake all the smiles, if it stops all the questions.

I wouldn't be surprised if I was voted most likely to kill everyone at a high school dance.--- Kurt Cobain

I wear my scars proudly. They represent the battles through which I have gone, and I am proud because those battles I have won.

waiting....the urges get stronger and weaker, the discipline to WAIT

not wanting to tell T. or hubby - unpleasant enough to tolerate the urges w/o acting

journaling (hey you know those 8 questions on the secret shame homepage? i printed them and taped them into my journal and i make myself answer them when things get really bad, too)

writing an email or calling my friend

shooting basketball

reading

turning up some music really loud and singing and dancing to it (but i'll only do this if home alone which is almost never)

coming here and replying to people's posts

hey, question:
i tried drawing on where i want to cut w/ marker and pen a couple of really hard nights. it kept me from cutting but it got on my clothes!!! so i stopped doing that. any ideas? has anyone else tried this?

I've got quite a collection of lovely things - mostly emails and texts and a few objects - that make me smile/are safe/comforting, so I tend to look at those whenever I feel crap. I think the main thing though is always being busy - I definitely get more anxious and stuff if I have nothing to do. Like, I thought moving out to go to uni would be bad, SI wise, because I live alone, but I've been so busy that if I feel crap/urgy I just don't have the energy to act on it! Which has been pretty good for my grades :3

I've been out of the...SI cycle I guess, long enough now for it not to be my first instinct if I do feel awful too. :)

My anti-SI is writing. Writing novels, poetry, journaling, even posts on the internet (though I have to be careful about what I put out there, of course)...

I also love to watch documentaries. I don't know why. I can't really focus long enough to watch a regular movie, but I love documentaries! I watch them and crochet to keep my hands busy.

Oh, and crochet.
