We are the girls with anxiety disorders, filled appointment books, five-year plans. We take ourselves very, very seriously. We are the peacemakers, the do-gooders, the givers, the savers. We are on time, overly prepared, well read, and witty, intellectually curious, always moving… We drink coffee, a lot of it. We are on birth control, Prozac, and multivitamins… We are relentless, judgmental with ourselves, and forgiving to others. We are the daughters of the feminists who said, “You can be anything,” and we heard, “You have to be everything." - Courtney Martin.

I did what I know God wanted me to. Or, rather I'm in the middle of doing what He wants. Can't say as I like it though. But it did take a lot of strength so I'm proud of myself for doing it even though it hurt.

I told my mother I'd started SIing again. And she was great and understanding, and told me to go and buy myself nice things so I could feel pretty again, so I did. And then I went and treated myself to a pot of tea and some crumpets, and wrote in my recovery journal. I also bought some good healing plasters, and shaved my legs so I wouldn't be tempted to pluck obsessively.

4 days without SI now...

I pampered myself, and was kind and patient with myself. And I enjoyed it. :D

I used one of the stratagies my councellor suggested about self soothing and mindfullness. I listened to an instrumental music peice and concentrated on each note and each instrument. it was very relaxing and I felt very calm and happy after i did that little activity

although i had poor thought patterns all day, i did not use any unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Nearly two weeks, with only a tiny slip - and even then, I caught myself before it got too bad.
