sumer scars SI *possibly trigegr*

Post by xmcrx37 » Mon May 21, 2007 7:49 pm

I have never had this problem before since Ive only been cutting for a little over a year. But not near the summer. I dont know how to cover up my cuts. Definately can not use band-aids, and I have wristbands like in punk bands but Im afraid my mom is getting suspicous. I dont know what to do.

where are they?

legs you can keep wearing jeans for a while w/o it being too big a deal, then wear board shorts instead of a bikini bottom
arms would be harder, maybe bracelets? or if its not too warm there yet wear a light sweater maybe?

I agree- plastic bracelets are the way to go. You can find them really cheap at Claire's, if you live in the US.

Or you could always try covering them up- I've used concealer before with a little foundation over it, but that only really works if you aren't in direct light (I used it for covering up for a concert and the stage lights made it pretty obvious).

Ditto to what the others said. Bracelets are great, and makeup is too. I've found that liquid foundation works best (it sticks better), maybe with a little powder foundation over it...I've also used coverup makeup, the kind that comes packaged like lipstick. Sometimes it takes a bit of experimentation to get a color match (my arms are considerably darker than my face), but it can work quite well.
Please be gentle with me.

If the scars are *scars* not cuts, you can dab concealer all over them and lightly spray them with hairspray so it stays put.

Otherwise bracelets are the way to go. In summer I sometimes wear long sleeved shirts over tank tops with the front open.

There are some nice thick watches around too.

Use something to make the scars fade, then eventually you won't have to worry. http://buslist.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=108508

I got scars on my shoulder and I honestly am not sure how I am going to swim. My only idea is to wear a shirt while I swim.

you could try using dermablend, is a concealer, and it truly is waterproof.

also with the swimming .. you could always "forget" your swimsuit and just go swimming in your regular clothes.

I have some bad ones on my ankles. I can't swim this year :( unless I somehow manage to go swimming with socks on!

fortunately i'm very fair skinned and can always use the sunburn excuse. t's gotten me thru for a looong time now. doesn't get any easier, but you learn tricks as you get along. so i always have a bunch of long sleeved light weight white sweaters and hoodies and zip ups that i wear all the time. i get tons of funny looks and comments. at work, i say i dont like hte air conditioning on my skin. and outside i say that i burn really easily. i just have given up swimming, which was a sacrifice. i used to love diving into the ocean. i used to scuba dive. :( maybe someday i'll have enough confidence to do that again.

it's going to be harder this season because i'm at a new job, and the air conditioning isn't as cold. and i'm in a window where the sun comes in directly on me. but i'm also with some more mature people, so i may give it a shot and see what happens.
I have love. I have love but I don't know where to put it.

Depending upon where they're at, you can invest in some shirts with elbow length or 3/4 length sleeves, or just wear a lightweight longsleeve over everything. Swimming, I still haven't figured out myself yet... there's always a chlorine allergy? =P

Wetsuits are a good option. They're a little pricy, tho, but they do make u look thinner!

I usually use the excuse of having a pale complexion, plus the fact that I hate to shave my legs :)
