how i cope

Post by Blissy » Wed Jan 10, 2007 10:15 pm

All of my life, i have turned to music as a form of escape, expression, emotional cleansing, and entertainment. Once though, not so long ago, my love for music was discovered by someone and this simple form of communication bridged a gap over a chasm that was so very deep with very high ledges on both sides. Music allowed for me to find something that I may not have been looking for, but that I cherish beyond words and would fight for never the less, because .. well because ....

I have spent years getting lost in music. Letting it be my pillow on many a sleepless night. Letting it hold me when there was nothing else. Letting it chase away the demons that haunt me. Letting it inspire me to be an artist. Letting it be my lover, my friend and my knight in shining armor. Letting it just be .... pure.

Someone once said to me that music is the backbone of every moment in life. Somewhere there is a song that is written "just for you" in that moment, whatever it may be. As a lyricist, I have found that I can write those moments into reality. It is cathartic. As a listener, I have found that others can express what I need to say even when I can't say it. If you read between the lines of what I write or listen too, you truly can find out about the girl behind the mask that society sees.

There is music everywhere, in everything and I wish that everyone out there could hear it. The sounds of dawn, the whisper of the wind .. it is so simple and yet people get caught up in their lives and let it go, missing the sounds of life that can contribute to a sort of personal freedom that we all so desperately need.

So as I sit here, lost in the sounds of the keys clacking and my phantom of the opera soundtrack, I know that no matter where I am in life, good or bad .. music will always be there to be my guide to the next path that I chose to walk down.

As do I. I have a soundtrack to every single event that has happened in my life. I can remember exactly what I was listening to when various things were happening to me or around me
