- the almost liquid air, and quiet, and pale sky at 4AM
- the precise flight of a dragonfly patrolling a square perimeter
- bumblebees at work with loaded pollen baskets on their back legs
- how chipmunks always look so slick and tidy

~ the smell of a distant bonfire
~ seeing my breath on a cold morning
~ frosted leaves that crunch underfoot

And the birds up on the wires and the telegraph poles
They can always fly away from this rain and this cold

If I bore you, that is that. If I am clumsy, that may indicate partly the difficulty of my subject, and the seriousness with which I am trying to take what hold I can of it; more certainly, it will indicate my youth, my lack of mastery of my so-called art or craft, my lack perhaps of talent…
A piece of the body torn out by the roots might be more to the point.

it's a cold damp Mancunian autumn day :) :) :)
I must have seasonal affected whatsit the wrong way round. I love cold weather. best I've felt for months.
...then one day I realised that the people you see in waiting rooms and car parks and on trains are really far more interesting. That they all have whole novels inside them, a fabric of scar tissues, photos and memories. They are comedies and tragedies and - more often - both at the same time.
