pulling hair...

Post by Scatterbrain » Fri May 26, 2006 12:03 am

I have been meaning to post this question for a while, but I could never bring myself to be able to. I find myself pulling out my eyebrow hairs and eyelashes. Many times I dont realize I'm doing it until I see the little hairs on my fingers. I did this when I used to SI, but it has gotten a lot worse since I stopped. Right now my left eye has significantly fewer eyelashes than my right. My friend did my makeup for my boyfriend's senior prom last weekend and she noticed it. Once I pull one out, it is really hard to stop and sometimes I can pull out a whole section of hair. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Is it related to SI at all? When I do it, I sometimes dont want to stop b/c I like the little sharp pain of pulling the hair out, but that doesnt happen everytime. Any advice would be appreciated!

I ALWAYS pull at my eyebrows...so much so that once i had a big gap, and i had to draw in the line until the hairs grew back! :o :o :o

I don't think mine is SI related, but then i wouldn't swear to it...

I occasionally pull at my eyelashes, but not very often...and not very many

It's not exactly related to SI.

It's an OCD called Trichotillomania.

So.. if your SI was a control thing.. you couldve replaced it subconsciously with this.

Thanks for the info! I will look that up more thoroughly... My SI was a little bit of a control thing, so I think it might be a possibility...
