Gave my cutbox away panicing

Post by VowsOfSadness » Fri Apr 22, 2005 10:27 pm

My friend Bridg she inspires me and after a long talk, well I talked she just listened, about SI I felt almost inspired. I'm going camping this weekend. I cut really bad and I scared myself, I'm still a bit scared. I gave her my cut box and told her to hold onto it, I don't want to quit but I wanted her to hold on to it. I'm so lost I don't know what I'm doing. WHy did I give her my cut box, I've never been w/o it. I'm scared. I'm freaking out--will this pass? Is life really better w/o si?

Well you probably gave it to her because you trust her, and you'd scared yourself. Maybe it is a good thing, as it makes it a little harder for you to SI, as it takes more effort.

I would suspect that when you've got through a few days without it successfully, you may feel less scared  And my personal opinion on whether life is better without SI - yes. You learn to deal with your emotions more effectively, and if you're anything like me, you get a bit of control back - my SI had got to the point where I didn't really have any choice whether I did it or not, and how bad I cut. Now I have that choice.

Take care of you - and always remember you can ask her for it back!

Perhaps one day this too will be pleasant to remember

I'm glad that giving your tools to someone to hold worked out for you. Taking the initiative to remove that temptation is a really good step. Good on you :gooddeal:
