what to do when si stops working? *trigs*
si'ing doesn't work anymore. i'm completely numb; it's been 4-5 months since si'ing has worked for me. i don't feel it when i cut anymore. the only part of it that helps is seeing the blood. so what do i do now?
general coping ideas which i know:
-excercise. currently injured; can't.
-sex. it's physical, so it normally helps. pregnancy scare, so i won't.
-reading. short attention span.
-music. good; it helps me space out, but doesn't take away the urges.
-crying. always works, but i havn't been able to in months.
i don't know what to do. i just feel so completely numb and lost. any ideas?

I know how you feel, about 6 months or so ago when I went into the hospital SI had stopped working, it's tough because you are forced into coping skills, but maybe things will be getting better.
*Challenges welcome*

Maybe the fact that si'ng doesn't work anymore means that u don't need to do it anymore and u can find a more possitive and effective way of coping.
Music is a good idea, thats what i use, or talking to someone close to u. Even just looking up to the sky and taking in a breath of fresh air, its simple but sometimes it works.
I know what u mean about not being able to cry, i hadn't cried in about a year then i told a friend about all my problems and i felt better, i can't cry infront of people, im not comfortable with that, i prefer being alone. A while after i told my friend i was listening to REM and the song 'Everybody Hurts' came on and i started crying but i felt so much better after.
I really hope u find a way that helps u cope

hi tara, what about picking up a new hobby - something you do with your hands? i've mentioned knitting other places on the board before. knitting helps me because it forces me to concentrate, but it's repetative so it isn't really frustrating. i like that it keeps my hands busy. when i don't knit, i also crochet or cross-stitch. maybe you could try a new creative hobby?
