So tired *minor si/su*

Post by BlueChloe » Mon Sep 06, 2004 4:27 am

Hello...

I've been at college a week now, and after dealing with the fact that I'll have to get a new therapist here, things had been pretty good. I thought I was getting much better, not thinking about being depressed or hurting myself.

But then after just a few days of being here, and getting over the rush of meeting new people and seeing a new place, things went back to the way they were.

I've been wanting to cut so much and I've starting thinking of overdosing or just wanting to die so much. I haven't been able to sleep as well.

Before I left my therapist doubled my medication, which I think I've gotten used to by now, but I don't know if it's a good thing or what.

I'm having trouble coping and I don't know what to do. I'm so tired of feeling this way. I just want it to end.

Help...

Hiya

I'm sorry you're finding life very hard right now. Going to college is a difficult time, and like you described it's easy to put so much effort into getting through the stress of the first week that once you're over that it can feel like a sudden "crash".

What support do you have? Have you found a new therapist yet? Even if not, there is bound to be a doctor or a college counselling service you can contact. What about family back home - do they understand what you're going through?

There are always ups and downs when you start college, but it's important to get this sorted out - you need to be feeling well when you're studying.

Take care of yourself

:-? hey, try not 2 be so hard on urself. U r going thru a big change in routine and environment. Try and find someone to talk 2, like laura said. I had a big crash in a similar situation and found talking to someone really did help. It was also very hard to trust someone new but the risk was well worth it. Do u have any therapy work u could review to help u focus on things that have helped in the past? Settling in to a new college, making new friendships, getting a routine, feeling familiar in ur surroundings all take time, so pace urself. Take ur time and it'll all happen and fall into place. I know it's hard but it is survivable, find support, it won't b 4ever.

Take care of you

hi

sounds like you're organised re. support wise which is good to hear. if you find things get difficult reach out and use that support system you have early on and if you need help from your tutors go ask - it really can help.

best wishes for this semester,

I'm really happy that things are getting better for you. Make sure you stay happy and keep these old thoughts and habits away.

Lots of love, and best wishes; stay confident,
