personalizing welcome PMs

I just got a very positive response thanking me for my PM to one of yesterday's newbies. :) Yay! One thing that I think helped is my pm to her/him was personalized ... the others I sent were generic. How do you personalize pms to people you don't know though? In this case the unusual username helped...

I think the idea is brilliant, and also the way in which it's being executed. we'll always have four new and four experienced people on the job I especially like that. And the starting line-up appears to be a great group of BUSsers. :) :) i think letting bus'ers have a say in who the ombudsman are i...

sometimes using everything i've got & prying myself off the computer & doing something active/productive.. helps a bit. That's what I'm going to do right now ... leave the computer early and go to bed to read. What you wrote about BUS "normalizing" certain things ... that really struck me. Hadn't t...

# Why do I feel I need to hurt myself? What has brought me to this point? Too many things to count. Stress over a family situation, over school, over my long-distance bf, over friendships. I've been spending more time on BUS this week, and I don't know if that is making me more urgy/triggered, or if...

I've promised my parents that I will tell them afterwards if I SI and so far (five weeks since I made the promise) it's kept me from SIing many times. Imagining how it would feel to disappoint them, how they would wonder why I couldn't come to them ... so, yes, guilt works. But you're right, it's no...

What Ra and Balletomane wrote made a lot of sense to me ... I could see how lists could be triggering (for me at least). And definitely I have this thing in the back of my mind that before I stop SI completely I have to finish a word ... :-?

I might deserve to have soft snuggly things. Of course you do. It's so awesome that you bought yourself a cuddly blanket. Personally, I love cuddly things. I sleep with a security blanket, teddy bear, and stuffed doll every night (and I am a freshman in college ) ... so I think snuggl...

I have cut letters, not words, because I usually stop before I finish. it is much harder to say that the rock u fell on is very literate and advanced for an inaminate object So true. :-? So - when you cut words, is it still a thing of the moment? Or is it because you want a permanent reminder of a f...

I don't know what I can do to make this easier ... because even the one thing I could do wouldn't make things better. It seems pointless to say I'm sorry ... and it's not entirely my doing either, but I feel like I'm ruining your life. I'm so sorry. But -- if you could just talk to me about it. Plea...

I never experienced any SA, but I don't like being touched/hugged/etc. by strangers. And especially guys. I can have a hard time talking to guys, looking them in the eye, etc., let alone be touched. I'm not sure why it is, and I guess the reason I'm writing this isn't to give an explanation or sugge...

Thanks so much ... yeah, the lists ... I love lists, but the thing that always gets to me about college applications is that I can never make up the list. There's too much ... and everything has to be done before everything else ... it's just insane. But maybe I'll try harder to get some organizatio...
