what board theme are you using. i use 'diddle' and ever since i switched to that i've never gotten pm pop ups, but it's not my computer as it works fine in subsilver. so you could try switching board themes and see if that works

for a link like google - www.google.com .... to have that come up as a url you put http://www.google.com only without the two spaces either side. to have the link just say 'Google' you would need to do this ... [url=http://www.google.com] and then immediately afterwards type the text you want to app...
