Because I was in class, and didn't want to SI at school. I promised myself long ago that I wouldn't. Because people would know what triggered me, and I didn't want the person who did it to think that he'd won. Because I'm turning 17 in a few days, and on the same day I'll have 200 days without slips...

Annabelle's right, you're never really alone. it feels like that a lot and like nobody understands, but somebody does. last year i found that none of my friends understood, so i turned to a girl in one of my classes who i hardly knew but i'd noticed scars on her arms...i guess i was lucky that she u...

yeah i know what you mean...i can't work without my desklamp. i have a 100-watt bulb in a 60-watt lamp...is that bad? but i wanted it BRIGHT to cheer me up. i also find it helps to work so that i'm not looking at a wall. i moved my workspace so that i'm looking out into the vastness of our extra kit...

Hi, One of my best friends just OD'd last night. She's ok...but anybody who's thinking of doing it, whether for SU or otherwise, just think about your friends. I'm worried sick, even though she insists that she's completely ok. She had to drink charcoal and was let out of hospital surprisingly quick...

people who do the little stars in this so that they're alternating colours. girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes, brown paper packages tied up with strings...(sorry, couldnt' resist) waking up in the morning when you've gone to bed the previous...

i'm pretty sure it's one of the things on the list (very long list!) of stuff to do before SI, but it's got one about writing down your talents, and every time you feel bad, adding a talent on to the list. it sounds like it might work, though i personally haven't tried it. if your friends are reason...

i find the piano really really good...gets rid of a lot of tension. and it's giving me a high school credit, since i'm taking a piano exam this year. so it's productive AND it helps. what better than to have a coping strategy like that? and one that i spend 1 to 2 hours on every day anyways? the oth...

Nobody ever said this would be easy and nobody ever asked it to happen. Lots of people might say they understand, but they only mean it halfway. You’re the only one who can know for sure exactly how you feel, and sometimes you might not even know for sure yourself, and that’s ok. You might feel tota...

an odd coping strategy, but it made me feel better
i've been having urges to cut for the past while now (i've been free without slips for a couple of months!!!) and i'm trying VERY hard to stay free. yesterday in biology class we were doing a lab that involved osmosis into potato cells, and i found a very random coping strategy, but it really worked...

i wish i could go back in time by 7 years and start all over again. i wish i could feel safe in telling the truth to my friends. i wish i didn't have chronic sinusitus. i wish biology class were easier. i wish math class were easier. i wish i could take music class. i wish my friends lived closer to...

i've also found it hard to talk to people about the flashbacks...a lot of my friends know that i have them, because they've been there when i've had them. i find it helps to have somebody there...last time i had a really bad one, what helped the most was grabbing my friend's arm and holding on to it...

i've also always felt like it's hurting yourself instead of hurting yourself, like silent scream said...so i dont' do it. but i have no idea about hte physical health injuries you're talking about...maybe ask a doctor about it? or get a friend to ask their doctor about it, on behalf of "an anonymous...
music is for me what swimming is for you. i find swimming to be too much of a stress, because of the scars vs. bathing suit issue, and also because i'm an awful swimmer. what i like about music is that it takes all of my thoughts up, and i'm concentrating on just the music, and also that it sounds p...
i don't think anybody's suggested this one yet... how about volunteer work? it can keep you nicely busy, but not too busy, you'll never even believe how much you can learn from it, it's loads of fun if you chose to volunteer at a good place, you can meet some awesome people, and you help people whil...

i sortof have a few levels of coping: 1) not wanting to die right then and there or actively being suicidal 2) being functional as a person in the real world 3) actually being an honestly happy person. whenever one of my friends asks me if i'm ok, i always ask her to define ok. those are pretty much...
