Time heals a lot of things, it just sometimes takes a while. You might not ever forget stuff, but there will come a point where it doesn't hurt any more.

I don't know if this will work for anyone, but I suggested it to a friend and she said it helped her. If you feel you have to si and conventional coping strategies don't work because you want the pain, try pressing inwards with your fingers just under your ear. Just let her know that it doesn't change how you feel about her and she doesn't have to be ashamed about it. However confused you're feeling, she's probably got it loads worse so just be there for her for now.
