Re: IMPORTANT: Bus admins' e-mail address not working

I noticed my own busmail.org email address isn't working either (it receives emails from busboard, but emails from any other addresses bounce, error message "550 #5.1.0 Address rejected."). I don't know if this is affecting all busmail.org addresses, or just some of them.

Re: The spam on this board is OUT OF CONTROL.

I think the key question is: What options does the phpBB software allow (including newer versions if relevant)? I mean, it's all very well criticising the spam-prevention features of phpBB, but that's not something the admins here can resolve. There is some info from phpBB at https://www.phpbb.com/c...

Same here - both buslist.org and busmail.org went (at slightly different times - busmail.org was still working for a while). They redirected to: buslist.org: 69.25.27.173 busmail.org: 66.150.161.140 I had a slight panic as this wasn't just the webboard (and email list, presumably), but also everyone...

Well yeah, people should stick with what works for them. Personally I'm happy sticking with XP and even 2000, it has all the features I need, and won't for now being switching to Vista (or OS X, or anything else). All operating systems tend to take features off of each other, some come first in Mac ...

the minimum system requirements for vista are hefty (1 GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 28 VRAM). especially since i can run the latest version of OSX on a computer with a 466 MHz CPU, 640 MB RAM, and 16MB VRAM; and OSX is basically what they ripped off to create vista. Is that what Leopard will require? I mean, ...

Re: can't get into bus by typing the url

What about trying www.buslist.org/phpBB/ (with a '/' on the end)?

Re: Windows Vista...What We Know

Well yes, my first thought was that it's AOL that's buggy, not Vista ;) More generally, this is the problem - not bugs, but some companies have been shockingly bad at updating software to cope with, or even simply recognise Vista. I tried to install Tesco's Internet Dial Up on my parents' new laptop...

Busmail Problems? Account Locked

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, but is anyone having troubles with their busmail email account? My email client (Eudora) fails when I try to download email, with the message "ERR Can't get lock. Mailbox in use". I tried telnetting in manually via pop (port 110), and I get: +OK POP...

Re: Mobile browsers

I'm writing this with opera mini. It'll work with just about any phone (so long as it can do java) no need for expensive PDAs ;)

Edit: Get it from http://www.operamini.com/ .

Note that you can get it to work by not including the persons name - i.e., just [quote] instead of [quote=whoever].

just outta curiosity, does opera work on macs? if so, does it work well? It's available for several OSs, including Mac and Linux: http://www.opera.com/download/ I've only used it on Windows, so I don't know how well it works on other OSs, but I don't see why it wouldn't. does it have some features ...

I use Opera too!

It's a shame it never seemed to become "trendy" to switch from IE until Firefox appeared, years after Opera was around. I guess people didn't like the adverts - though Opera is now free without adverts, for anyone who hasn't heard.

I really want to get Linux, but don't really know how to go about doing that...windows XP is better than 2000 or ME (unless you're running a network, than 2000 is okay) but that's not saying a whole lot. (especially because ME was truly awful) Can I ask how XP is better than 2000? I mean yes, I kno...

Re: Windows/Explorer/Outlook Express

In my opinion, Windows is fine these days - it may or may not be as stable as other OSs, but it's reasonable nonetheless. I feel that a lot of the "Windows is so unstable" is a carryover from Windows 9x/Me days (which is an entirely different OS, which *was* very unstable - but then again, so were v...

Re: Busmail problems

I've got it working on Eudora now, by going to the Properties for the Account, and telling it to accept the certificate. But unfortunately I can't work out how to do this in Outlook Express. It looks like the server has been changed to use SSL (means the data is encrypted), but it seems to be someth...

Re: Busmail problems

I'm having the same problem. On Eudora I get "SSL Negotiation Failed: Certificiate Error: Cert Chain not trusted. Try adding this certificate to your certificate database for SSL to succeed".

And I have the same problems on the busmail web interface.
