This is cool Limestone - I dunno how you think them up, but it's fab :1hug:

:star: What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?

Um, the feeling that as a ex-Coping-Forum-mod I'd be a total hypocrite if I didn't at least try.

:star: If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?

Well since I'm already at my computer :geek: that saves me one move. I have two left? Well, I might get out some knitting or cross-stitch. Or I might leave the house and go for a walk.

:star: It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?

If it's a weekday then it's quite difficult to SI at work, but I should try to work out some plan how not to SI when I get home. Like maybe arrange to meet a friend, or buy a book or something on the way home that will occupy me in the evening.

If it's a weekend, then I'll look at my ToDo list and do something that I've been putting off. It might be a nice thing, or if it isn't then the fact of having done it will make me feel better about myself.

:star: You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?

The aim is to make it easy to get to sleep at a fairly early bedtime. So, no caffeine, get some fresh air and exercise, and take my meds good and early.

:star: List five coping things that work for you.

Well, they don't always work, but then nothing, not even SI itself, always works. But having 5 strategies increases the probability:
Writing on myself with red marker
Doing the questions on Before&After and reading my reasons not to
Posting on here about stuff
Going out for a walk
Tidying my room

:star: Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?

Well, it depends what colour of paints I've got. I'd rather bake them into two cakes I think. Although I could blow the eggs and paint the shell while the cakes are in the oven.

:star: You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?

Hmm, I'm not feeling very inventive. I invent the Coping Wheel, which is a lot like a wheel and on each spoke you write a coping strategy, preferably ones that you can do anytime and anywhere. Then when you feel you want to SI, you have to spin the coping wheel and do the thing that it lands on.
Not too convinced that this is useful, sorry.

:star: Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)

I paint a picture of a large orchestra and there is an empty chair and music stand at the very back of the cellos for me to join in. They play lots of music that I know and love and the orchestra is big so I don't feel scared and conspicuous.

On the other egg I paint two children, maybe T's two daughters who are 8 and 6 or maybe my two step-nieces who are younger. The parents aren't in the picture, so I am able to play with the children and not feel inhibited. Kids make me nervous but these children are nice-natured and they seem to like me and help by thinking up things to do so we have a nice time.

:star: Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?

Not challenging enough  I do, seriously, do the following: Choose an odd whole number. Multiply by 3 and add 1. Now keep on halving the result until it is odd again. Then multiply by 3 and add 1 and keep repeating the process.
Either the number will get big and you'll give up, or the sequence will terminate with 4,2,1,4,2,1,4,2,1.... But it's not known if all starting numbers will eventually do that, or even if there are some that don't terminate at all but just keep on with no numbers repeated ever.
I can't remember who told me about this sequence.
Sorry this is probably boring, but you did ask a mathematician ;)

:star: The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?[/quote]

I'll tease them that chocolate eggs are better.
I'll offer them some cake.
I'll tell them about my rather bizarre colleague who keeps chickens and sometimes communicates with them using a dog whistle.
I'll give them a very nice comfy nest to do their laying in.
I'll let them decorate it with the painted eggs.
I'll promise them a visit from the cockerel ;)
I'll ask them which came first, the chicken or the egg!

OK that's only 7 but I don't think hens can count that high, most animals can't.

:star: What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?
the look on my boyfriend's face when he sees. that's it, at the moment.

:star: If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?
i would put some warm clothes on, and go to bed with a good book.

:star: It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?
i could go and talk to people, or just be around them. i could go and work, but whether that would satisfy it i dont know.

:star: You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?
i would sit with people, or at least get out of my room, i would put cold water on my face, or go somewhere with bright lights.

:star: List five coping things that work for you.
they're not really coping, they're more putting-off mechanisms:
1) being around others
2) doing something constructive - like finishing a part of my painting, or sorting out notes, or writing letters
3) putting on happy-making music
4) taking a shower
5) drinking cold juice

:star: Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?
dark blue, dark emerald green, very deep purple, silver, crimson red, a very light blue, so pale as to be white.

:star: You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?
the coping wheel is attached to a unicyle, which when pedalled will take you straight to a comfy bed, a warm person to cuddle, a good book or film and a very tidy, fulfilled mind.

:star: Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)
the orphanage room of my 14 little toddlers in mongolia, where i worked on my gap year. they make me smile and make my heart bleed at the same time, i've never felt so much emotion and thought so little about myself.
second - the great wall at simatai, the eleventh tower.

:star: Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?
um, i never learnt my times tables, due to being chronically shy, a tyrannical teacher, a cruel game involving standing on chairs until you got one wrong, and the existence of calculators. so no.

:star: The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?

1) bwaaark-bwark-bwaaark bwaark
2) bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-aark
3) cluck bwaark cluck cluck
4) bwark
5) bwark-bwaaaaaaaark bwaark bwwwrk
6) brrrrwwwwwww-rk k k
7) cluck
8) bwuh - bwuh -bwuh - bwuh - clAAAAARK
9) blaaaaa-ark
10) bwaaark-bwaark cluck.

Read.

:star: You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?

Go to sleep for a short time or go to the library.

Well, that's someone else "coping wheel", but it got them into the MoMA, so it must be very helpful to many people.

:star: Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)

No, I hate math.

:star: The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?

1. Eggs are nutritious and people like them.
2. Some of them will hatch and you will have little babies. Think of how happy that would make you.
3. I will stay here with you while you lay the eggs and hold you when the tough part comes.
4. Mr. Rooster will not visit if he learns you do not appreciate his efforts.
5. Really, what else are you going to do in here besides lay eggs? Won't you get bored?
6. I don't think its very healthy to hold eggs in.
7. If I could lay the eggs myself, I would, but that's not my job.
8. I heard the hens from the other farm taking shit about you gals. Let's show those bitches up!
9. Neither of us want me to remove those eggs manually, do we?
10. You guys are swell for putting up with me so far. Another dozen and you can all break for seed.

I'll play

What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?
Knowing that there is no way to hide it form the one person I love more than anything and knowing that in the ned I would have to explain what led me to that point.

If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?
Take a shower.
Fiddle around with stuff in my room

It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?
Deal with kid.
Wait
I am supposed to be coming up with distractions not find other triggers
*eye roll*
What could I do?
Start dinner

You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?
Maybe go to the grocery store and stop and see the kitties first :)

List five coping things that work for you.
Grocery shopping
Playing with the kitties at the shelter
Playing gin
reading (usually)
Talking to my girl

Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?

There are six different colors?
I always thought there was just black.
I would paint them black, purple, red, turquois, blue, and grey

You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?
A bit like wheel of fortune wheel but with 2 parts.
It is 2 wheels in one.
The first one has spaces for different coping mechanisms and the second has some small rewards.
When you spin the wheel you land on a coping mechanism and do whatever you land on.
If you succeed you then spin the other wheel and see what reward you get.

Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)
A beach scene at sunset with gentle waves lapping at the shore
A mountain scene next to a creek

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?
Ummmmmmm
I'm a math geek
I do this sort of thing for fun
*huge eye roll*

The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?
I would tell the how great a job they were doing
Tell them the more eggs they lay the better they will look
Tell them they are my coping mechanism and I neeeeed the eggs
Threaten to call the count from sesame street so he can come count all the chickens. REPEATEDLY
Tell them the rooster they have their eye on is only attracted to hens that lay many eggs
Explain how important eggs are to the human diet.
Convince them that the only way they will ever get the son they always wanted is to keep laying eggs and eventually one of them will be a boy.
Give them a 15 minute break so they can get out and stretch their leggs.
Promise them a sky light if they produce at least 100 more eggs.
If all else fails tell them you are gonna pluck them and cut their little heads off so they can run around going skitter skitter skitter thump till they die and then trow them in the frying pan

What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?
THE FACT THAT I WANT TO BECOME A TEACHER AND I KNOW THAT HAVING SCARS ALL OVER MY ARMS MIGHT HINDER ME FROM EVER GETTING HIRED.

If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?
I WOULD TURN ON SOME MUSIC AND WRITE IN MY JOURNAL.

It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?
WATCH TV.
STAY AT WORK IF THEY NEED ME.
EAT SOMETHING, BECAUSE THAT IS MY NORMAL MEAL TIME.
PLAY WITH MY MUCH IGNORED CAT (MY WORK SCHEDULE HAS NOT BEEN CONSISTENT AND THE CAT GETS MAD WHEN I AM NOT THERE TO PAY ENOUGH ATTENTION TO HIM).
WRITE IN MY JOURNAL.
GET ONLINE AND TALK TO PEOPLE.

You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?
STUFFING MY FACE TO THE POINT WHERE I FEEL SICK. WHEN I EAT TOO MUCH, SI-ING MAKES ME TOO NAUSEATED. BUT THEN AGAIN, BINGING IS ANOTHER WAY FOR ME TO SI... SO, I'M NOT COMPLETELY SURE. I GUESS I COULD TRY AND TALK ON THE PHONE TO A CLOSE FRIEND ABOUT NOTHINGNESS.

List five coping things that work for you.
DRAWING/ SKETCHING
WRITING THE EMOTIONS I AM FEELING OUT ON MY SKIN
WRITING IN MY JOURNAL
PLAYING WITH MODELING CLAY
EATING

Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?
PURPLE
DARK PURPLE
LILAC
BLUE
RED
MAROON

You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?
IT IS SHAPED LIKE AN AMOBEA - CONSTANTLY CHANGING TO MEET MY NEEDS, YET STAYING TOGETHER AND IS ALWAYS IN ONE PIECE.

Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)
1) A PURPLE WORLD FULL OF STUFFED ANIMALS AND PEOPLE GIVING HUGS/ OTHER FORMS OF PHYSICAL AFFECTION WITH A POSITIVE MEANING BEHIND THEIR ATTENTION
2) A PLACE FULL OF WRITING NOTEBOOKS, MUSIC, AND A PLACE WHERE I COULD PLAY ANY MUSICAL INSTURMENT THAT I PLEASED

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?
NO!!! I HATE MATH! I THINK THAT AFTER RECITING MY MATH TABLES I WOULD BE EVEN MORE ANXIOUS.

The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?
1) THERE IS ALWAYS TOMORROW...
2) IT IS YOUR DECISION AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO CAVE INTO PEER PRESSURE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BECAUSE THE WORLD WILL GO WITH WHATEVER DECISION YOU MAKE.
3) I WOULD ASK THEM WHAT THEY PLAN TO DO WITH THEIR LIFE IF THEY DECIDE TO STOP LAYING EGGS.
4) SLEEP ON YOUR DECISION AND THEN DECIDE AFTER YOU HAVE HAD TIME TO WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS CAREFULLY.
5) HOW ELSE DO YOU PLAN TO SUPPORT YOURSELF IF YOU LACK A COLLEGE EDUCATION AND CAN NO LONGER REPRODUCE?
6) I WOULD REMIND THEM THAT PEOPLE WILL START DYING WITHOUT THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD, ESPECIALLY SINCE EGGS ARE USED IN VACCINATIONS AND MEDICATIONS OF SOME TYPES.
7) HAVE IT YOUR OWN WAY, BUT BEWARE THERE ARE CONSEQENCES FOR EVERY DECISION.
8) CLUCK-CLUCK-CLUCK.
9) CHICK-FA-LAY JUST CALLED...
10) KFC HERE YOU GO!

:star: What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?
I get sick of seeing all the bandaids and such on me. And I am always worried about infections, or someone seeing them accidentally.

:star: If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?
I would move away from anything I could use to SI, then probably get my CD player or something.

:star: It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?
Go on the net.

:star: You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?
Bribe myself with something.

:star: List five coping things that work for you.

Squeezing my stressball, listening to loud music, crying, writing, screaming.

:star: Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?
Aqua, blue, green, silver, gold, tan.

:star: You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?
A wheel of fortune type thing that has coping strategies on it.

:star: Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)
One would be the world of my comic Feathers, and the other would be a really big peaceful sunny garden.

:star: Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?
Maybe, but probably not.

:star: The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?
I wouldn't encourage them, that's their choice. I can always eat something else... like hens that aren't doing their job..

What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?

i know that it will work, and that SI is not worth it and it wont make me feel better in the long run, only regretful

If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?

(i'm sitting) rest my elbows on my knees and put my head in my hands

It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?

i grab some paper and a pen and just draw or write everything i feel, or i sleep, or watch a movie, or clean

You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?

i'd think of mark, think of how much it would upset me to know i hurt myself again, i'd listen to really loud music and sit on my hands

List five coping things that work for you.

walking
writing/drawing
eating
talking
shopping

Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?

one black, one white, one blood red, one dark blue and one green

You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?

pardon?

Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)

i'd draw a perfect room filled with cushions and relaxing music and paper and is dimly lit and i'd draw the top of a mountain, hundreds of miles up with lots of rocks to sit on and beautiful scenery to look at

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?

i cant even do my 9 times table lol

The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?

lmao this question

anyway, i guess i'd say that
:star: the eggs are really important to me
:star: if i dont have them i could do something terrible to myself
:star: they lay the nicest eggs and i wouldn't use any other hens eggs
:star: if they lay the eggs i'll give them at treat
:star: i really need them
:star: only useless hens give up
:star: i'll give them privacy when they lay there eggs
:star: i'll be extra nice to them
:star: that they are looking especially nice today
:star: i saw johnny depp go by and he said he needed some eggs, pronto

What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing? i dont like SI. it makes me feel like i am messing up my life.

If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do? intertwine my fingers and close my eyes really tight.

It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead? join in some random peoples conversation, or start one about how school is almost over!

You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing? play with my blade for a bit, and then purposefully put it away. i find that if i treat it like a toy, i find it hard to hurt myself with it.

List five coping things that work for you. doing random questionnaires, drawing pictures, crying, making stuff, reading.

Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose? blue, pink, orange, purple, silver

You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented? a wooden cart wheel with soft toys and photos in the gaps between the spokes.

Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there) i would paint scenes from my dreams on them... some of my dreams are wonderful.

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself? no. i never lerned my times table... and they think i should be in the smart class!

The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs? i love you. if you keep lying me eggs, i'll try to get all your he friends out of the nasty batterty cages! well, i'll do that anyway... but dont you think i deserve something back? *puppy eyes*

What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?

Probably because I know how ashamed I'll feel after si'ing, and how I'll have to hid the cuts from my family and friends, or make up lame excuses. Also, I've considered modeling before... and I know that lots of scars would pretty much kill that option.

If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?

I would put on my headphones and start singing along and dancing to Wicked. Well... that's moving three times, but oh well.

It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?

I can go for a walk around my neighborhood, go to the playground and just sit on the swings... call a friend and maybe try to go out to the movies or for ice cream or something.

You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?

I would invite a friend over for a movie and popcorn night. If none of my friends were free, I'd probably write in my journal.

List five coping things that work for you.

-Writing
-Dancing
-Talking to a friend
-Sleeping
-Watching a dvd

Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?

I would choose a light blue for the first one, dark blue for the second, forest green for the third, a deep, blood red for the fourth, silver for the fifth and orange for the sixth.

You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?

I've invented a list of phone numbers of friends who know about my SI and are willing to talk. For me... there aren't very many, but it's still a good idea.

Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs?

I would paint a picture of the perfect beach- clear water, blue skies, soft sand... and absolutely deserted, except for me. On the second egg, I would paint a picture of a waterfall in the jungle, one that empties into a tiny pond for swimming.

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?

Hm.... Maybe.

The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?

-Things will get better.
-You can get through this.
-I believe in you.
-Just keep swimming.
-C'mon, you can do it!
-I love you
-Don't give up yet
-Gooo hens, gooo hens....
-I love your eggs. They rock.
-You're the coolest.

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?

Did you know you can do the 9 times table with your fingers?

here is how it works...

9 times 1

left pinky is bent. next fingers after the bent finger is always the ones column. Bent finger is how many your multiplying.

bend your left thumb for example and the bent thumb is in the 5th finger so your multiplying 9 by 5 and the amount of fingers on the left of the bent finger is your tens (so in this case 4 fingers before your left bent thumb and 5 after so 9 times 5 is 45.

Try it, it works up to 9 times 10. Kinda cool and keeps your fingers occupied.

:star: What motivates you to try a coping thing instead of si'ing?
I would never let anyone else hurt me. So now I'm not going to let me hurt me.

:star: If you had to move twice to cope i.e. move your body, what would you do?
I would stretch my left leg, then my right.

:star: It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?
dance, read, do homework

:star: You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?
put on nice music and take a nap

:star: List five coping things that work for you.
reading
dancing
doing homework (If I manage to start it, it really helps)
wasting time online
cleaning my room

:star: Take six eggs and paint them six different colours: what colours would you choose?
blue, red, gold, silver, black, white

:star: You have seven minutes to invent the coping wheel: what have you invented?
You spin the wheel. Each spot corresponds to an audio file: a recorded quote, speech, or poem. A song. Suggestions for yoga poses and stretches. I would make it on the computer so there could be visualizations with it as well.

:star: Eight minutes are up and the hens laid two extra eggs. If you could paint how they do in the film 'Mary Poppins', on the pavement: what pictures would you paint on the two eggs? (if you've not seen the film, it's a picture that you can jump into and then you're transported there)
I would paint the Borghesie Gallery on one and a Florentine gelato shop.

:star: Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?
nine times one is nine, nine times two is eighteen, nine times three...

:star:The hens are getting pretty fed up with this current egg-demand: what ten things will you say to them, to encourage them to not give up laying eggs?

1. A hen that doesn't lay eggs is not a good investment and you would likely be slaughtered.
2. what else is there for you to do?
3. You will have my respect and admiration forever
4. you will provide much needed protein to lots of people
5. At least it isn't like human births--have you seen how big a baby's head is?

that's all I can think of.

It's three o'clock in the afternoon and you want to si, what can you do instead?

Shut my eyes and try and have a nap

You decide at four o'clock that you couldn't possibly not si but then decide that maybe you can, what would you do to increase your chances of not si'ing?

Id probably still be sleeping or elce i would watch some tv.

I would paint a sceen from my imaginary world of a blue sun and a tropical planet with high tech stuff and everyone is peacefull. The other egg would have a picture filled with all my best friends so i could visit them.

Would you ever consider reciting the nine times table to take your mind off hurting yourself?
