Covering scars onstage? *si* *scars* *poss. triggers*

Post by GooGooPanda » Sun Apr 25, 2004 7:59 pm

I'm the lead in a play that opens this weekend. Most of my scars are on my thighs, which my costume covers, but I do I have one big red one in the bend of my arm that shows. I need something to cover it, not only from the audience but from the cast and crew of the play. Does anyone who has ever had to dance, sing or act onstage with their scars (or even people who haven't) know of something that can withstand lots of sweat and movement and at least cover up redness?

Thanks much.

Hey, I'm a dancer, so I have a method that works. Use liquid founadtion and blot it on, don't rub it. Use a colour a few shades darker than your skin. Then go over it with powdered foundation that same colour as your skin. ALso, I found that if you do dance, wear two pairs of pink tights because it covers the scars on you legs up perfectly. Hope that helped.

How much fun! I used to be in a lot of plays. Can you use stage makeup? That withstands everything!

I was going to suggest stage make-up...it stays on pretty well! Congrats at getting the lead!

I wonder how many people are saying "fine" when they're not.

I think that from now on I'm going to look a little bit deeper...because I'm not the only one.

The play went really well. For the first show I covered it with some foundation and concealer, and then some stage makeup clear powder to make it stick. But with all the kids running around and the crowd, less people noticed the scars if I didn't cover them than they did if I was blotting foundation on my arm, so I just gave up.

Thanks though! And the stuff I used for the first show worked really well if anyone has newer or darker scars they need to cover.
